Adrian Cook, of Adrian Jon Bathrooms, stripped tiles from the walls, plastered where necessary, re-tiled,fit a new toilet, radiator, window sill and skirting board. I provided the tiles, radiator and toilet. On the whole his work is good and some of it excellent, but his time management is poor. Not only did he arrive late in the morning and often leave early but he had to go out to buy materials and did not seem to anticipate needing supplies which are normal requirements for the jobs he was doing nor did he buy them all at the same time. Between the late arrivals and the interruptions to his work day,it took Adrian six days to do a job which was scheduled to last for three days, but could perhaps be justified in taking four as the radiator was included while he was working when I learned that the old radiator was beginning to rust. I found the extra days of disruption and the fact that he did much of the cutting work indoors on his dust cloths, which were very thin and barely useful, tiring. If Adrian had come at the usual time in the morning and worked through the day, I believe the job could have readily been done in four days.
Adrian worked systematically when he was there working. He obviously knows how to tile and fit, and he has good ideas and a good eye. He is pleasant. However, he left a piece of skirting board jutting out at the architrave and has refused to come and redo it. He wanted to be paid immediately and as he left he said that if there were any problems I should contact him; therefore I went to the bank and settled his invoice as soon as I could, in three days. Despite this, he has not agreed to come repair the skirting board and I now will have to employ someone else to do so. There are a few other ends to tie up but I''ll
them done by the person who paints the room. It is a shame that Adrian has finished the job in this way.
