Joe (the builder) repointed our front bay, cemented around the door and fixed the chimney stack (resin bonding) on the side of the house. All the work (cement and bricks) were colour-matched to the existing wall colours.

"Key things I noticed:
- His team were punctual,
- He recommended that certain works should not be done (i.e. he didn't try to add extra work to increase the price),
- Everything was cleaned-up after the work was done,
- He was very experienced in his knowledge and advice.
- The price was fair too.

We would definitely use Joe again!"

Large Sitting Room decoration. previously painting and renovation of the outside front of the house in a conservation area.

"I have known J L Lyons for nearly 40 years - since I first moved to the area, first as neighbours and now for the wonderful work they do.
They decorated and renovated the outside of the house last year - they did a beautiful job, solved problems I thought were insurmountable and all in keeping with the rules of a conservation area.
I have an open plan sitting room/dining room and a lot of furniture, but I needn't have worried about this as the team took it in their stride. They moved everything as necessary, made me a comfortable living space for every evening and worked as quickly as possible. The end result is excellent - I'm so pleased.
Individual members of the team are unfailingly respectful and considerate - doing the work I wanted but always ready with thoughtful ideas when mine ran out. They are friendly and just good to have around. They have a thorough knowledge and understanding of what materials should be used. And their actual work is to an exceptionally high standard.
I can't recommend this company highly enough and they will be my first choice the next time I need work done

We have used this company for years for a number of different services. The most recent work was upgrading the bathroom and fitting shelves in a bedroom. Before that we had landscaping work, roofing work and the largest job was construction of a kitchen extension to the back of the house.

"The original work on the extension was smoothly and professionally completed. The other jobs for which we hired them were also completed in a timely and professional way. Our space was always left clear and tidy after each day's work. We would not hesitate to call J L Lyons again or to recommend them for any future work. This company has broad expertise and importantly excels in each different specialist area, from landscaping to roofing to carpentry and to all aspects of constructing a major kitchen extension."

Kitchen refurb exposed a rotting woodenlintel. J lyons rebuilt the brick padstones and installed two concrete lintels. They packed the voids with slates and cemented.

"Joe was very pleasant from the first phone call. Not abrupt or hasty.
He came around within the week and explained what would be needed. He took a call from another customer while on site and was very patient and professional while dealing with them which was reassuring.
He sent through a quote with a link to an invoice which was very professional and included VAT in the quote which avoided the ambiguity of whether VAT was included.

He agreed to start the next week which was great as I had a kitchen refurbishment and this was an unexpected problem that wasn't anticipated and had to be dealt with within two weeks.

He came around beforehand to leave some items and refused to let my girlfriend bring them in which was kind as they were very heavy.

He attended site on the first day on time, Was considerate to my work schedule for site access and was clean and tidy once finished for the day.

He completed the work within the agreed time and it looked great and met all the agreed criteria to endorse his agreed quote."

Home and Office refurbishment and significant extension work on domestic premises. Plumbing, Building and Decorations

"JL. Lyons and Co have been my go to builder for over 40 years - They have not only conducted work on my house firstly on Harrow On the Hill and then Northwood but carried our works at two of my office and factory locations. Joe is a rarity - quality ahead of quantity. He will only take on jobs that he will excel in and will not compromise on delivering a first class job.
I have spent significant monies on developing property and modifying work places with the team which on most parts has stayed the same over that last 30 years - feel free to contact me - Michael I"
