Replace cracked Haldex unit and rear diff with a fully functioning one from a low mileage donor car, and replace Haldex coupling.

"Had a fault with my Haldex unit, where the casing was cracked and it leaked oil. Audi wanted £1200 for for a new unit. Didn't want to take a chance, as the rear diff could have been damaged also, and that would of ending up costing a bomb.

Emailed Das Automan (Andrew) to enquire about their services, luckily he knew what a Haldex unit was (all the local garages I called had me explaining what the part was!)

Andrew, sourced a Haldex unit with rear diff from a low mileage donor vehicle within a week, and then a date was set for install.

Car was picked up from my place of work, and once the job was completed, then delivered back to me.

Upon driving it home, I noticed a vibration occurred between 2k-2.5k revs, a quick Google search pointed me to a thread on Audi-Sport where other users discussed the same problem. Turns out the coupling between the Haldex unit and the prop shaft is prone to cracking. So I made a call to Jason at allgermanparts.co.uk and a new one was ordered (£140 as opposed to Audi's rip off £278!)

Contacted Andrew, and arranged a day for it to be fit. Matthew and Martin turned up at the agreed time and done the work.

The car now drives how it's supposed to.

Diagnosis of Emmissions fault (warning light on dashboard)

"We have used Das Automan to service and maintain our car for almost two years now including emergency repairs (thankfully few of these), preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing. They have always provided timely, convenient service and all work is fully estimated and explained before it is undertaken. Our car has never run so well and we greatly appreciate having an expert to call on as the need arises.

In this particular instance we had an Emissions warning light come on which the manual says should be referred to a garage immediately. Following a call with Das Automan, an appointment was booked for the next working day and they performed a full diagnostic scan that highlighted a couple of potential issues, but nothing serious. They then reset the car and asked that we contact them again if the fault recurred, and for an update in any case after a week.

The warning has not recurred, but in the meantime Das Automan have fully reviewed and saved the complete diagnosis and generated a test plan in case the fault returns."
