Reputations are not built overnight
In Referenceline's view, this track record is more important than the ratings. Don't be impressed by a few old reviews which may not be representative.
Look for firms with a commitment to asking for feedback - good or bad - from their customers.
We recommend that you look for a track record of ratings and reviews in at least 9 of the last 12 months and that you should not be too concerned about an isolated negative review.
Ask the firm for their side of the story.
Code of Practice
Businesses have a legal responsibility to treat you fairly, but it's often hard to know what questions to ask or what standards to expect.
They are the experts and you should be able to rely on them to help you make decisions.
These questions explain the commitments that this business has made to follow a code of practice and they will help you understand what you have a right to expect.

You can see how many customers have said "Yes" in answer to each question, but please don't expect 100% in every case.
Nobody's perfect and some customers may not be completely sure about the answer.
It's more important that you understand these questions and discuss them with the business so that you both agree what good service means for you.
A responsible business will be happy to explain the details to you and it's always better to clarify these points upfront to avoid misunderstandings later on.

2 bed semi detached in Ayrshire.
"On the whole the service is satisfactory.
I would however make the following observations, it would be benfitial to admit when something has not quite gone to plan and offer a solution rather than trying to pretend all is fine. I would also suggest that prior to payment of any fees, invoices or remitance that the works involved should be checked. Like any works by contractors only pay when fully satisfied.

"Rentolease offered all information up front in a very professional manner, gave me very sound advice on potential rental value which was realized. There has been almost no time lost between the exit of one tenant and the entry of another, ensuring loss od rental income has been kept to a bare minimum.
They have followed up on the agreed inspection of premises mid term and on exit, sending me timely inspection reports of same.
I hardly need to contact them other than to respond to tenant queries raised with them, but when required they've always been prompt and informative in response."

Customer Review
The apartment is a two bedroom, one is en suite. It is modern and well furnished and is situated in a pleasant small town. It has good train and bus services, all within walking distances.
" While living in Glasgow I rented out several properties that I owned. So I have plenty of experience when it comes to letting agencies.
I have never come across any other letting agency who are as efficient and helpful as Rentolease.
The staff are always pleasant and very helpful. You couldn't get better and I have been with them for several years.."

house prestwick, 2 bedrooms
"If you do not need them they are good. If you require their service they need learn how to deal with landlords better and not just on the side of the tennant who they let do everything but not looking after the landlords property. Improvements needs to be done in they way tennants pay their rent. They appear sometimes reluctant to collect the right amount of rental income."

One 2 bedroom flat and one studio flat
"Rentolease have looked after my flats since I first let one about 12 years ago. I live abroad and leave everything to them. The service has been first rate and I have had no problems.
When my flats were badly damaged by fire, Rentolease carried out their share of the work to get them back on the market very professionally.
The staff are on the ball, friendly and respond promptly if I have any requests.

Customer Review
Prestwick Town Centre: 2 Bedroom, Semi-Detached, End of Terrace Cottage.
"Due to a job change and relocation overseas, it became apparent to me that I would have to do what I thought would be a difficult, incommodius and worrisome task... become a "landlord".
All I can say is thank goodness for RentoLease. All I had to do was read, understand and sign a couple of documents.
Firstly, they ensured that my house complied with all the current health and safety requirements (not just protecting themselves or me, but the tenants too); then they provided me with a fair valuation for the rental income I could expect and above all, very quickly secured great tenants and ensured that any monies due to me were paid in a timely fashion.
An additional "service", that RentoLease don't really advertise, is that they will complete all the "little jobs" around the house that you had planned to do, but never got round to. They attained very competitive rates from reliable local tradesfolk and now my house is in better condition than it ever was when I lived in it... thank you.
If you're looking for a hassle free, well managed way of renting or leasing out your house, RentoLease is the way to go (see what I did there?).
Thanks David, Leanne, Walter and Gillian for looking after my wee hoose for me. I'll get you all a beer when I'm back in Scotland."
