"Couldn’t be happier with the service and professionalism offered by Stuart Lee and his team at Fine & Country in Redbourn. We had several other agents value our property but on meeting Stuart realised he wasn’t just saying what he thought I wanted to hear. He spoke openly and honestly and that’s what I like. He is excellent at negotiation, always trying the best for his client. We also had dealings with Jen who works in the Redbourn office as well and always found her friendly, knowledgable and approachable. The after sales team couldn’t have been more helpful, always keeping us up to date with what was going on. Fine & Country really took the stress out of moving (not saying there wasn’t moments of that!) but we sold, exchanged and completed within a very good time frame. Country cottage on the border of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

"I have used Town & Country for many years to administer the letting of the cottage. As I don't live in UK I have had the power of attorney for the owner of the cottage for many years.

Living abroad meant that I couldn't attend to any of the problems which invariably arose with an old cottage, so I relied exclusively on the Town & County staff to do everything for me. They were excellent in getting all issues sorted very quickly.
They also did regular checks on the cottage and kept me informed with photographs and paperwork showing exactly the condition of the cottage and offering advice on anything that needed doing.

All the staff were friendly and helpful and I can't thank them enough. Nothing was too much trouble. They are the best. I particularly want to mention Mark Bristow who has taken much time and effort in supporting me in the administration of the cottage . He has always returned phone calls promptly and gone out of his way to help me."

"The sales team at Town & Country were brilliant, friendly & always helpful. They always put my needs first even though selling would earn their commission, they always made sure I was happy.
The after sales team were exceptional giving amazing support with the chain and hassling solicitors in the chain to make sure completion got done - I think I would have given up without their help.

"I can not recommend Town & Country highly enough. We were just disappointed we didn't go to them first. We first approached them after having frustrations with another agent whom we found extremely difficult to deal with.

We first met with Paul from the Markyate office who was extremely professional & knowledgeable about the current market & location, giving us realistic expectations & options. He listened to our situation & the whole team were always aware of our property, so ringing up the office there was always someone on hand who could help us, even though this was only occasional as they were always fantastic at keeping us updated. Paul & Nickki were fabulous at giving clear & concise feedback from the viewers. Once they had found us a buyer they were very clear about each step in the process, passing us on to the after sales team, they were always happy to help with regards to contacting solicitors & the buyer. They made the process of selling our house an actual pleasure.

I believe they went above & beyond our expectations & can not thank them enough."

"Very bad service even though staff were very nice people
I think they dropped the ball on our sale by NOT keeping in touch and NOT chasing up solicitors
All this took over four months and cost me money.

I would not recommend them or NEVER RECOMMEND their solicitors shoo smith ever to anyone again.

Sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the delay in your sale from offer to completion and I agree that 4 months is unfortunately longer than the typical 3 months but when chains are involved there are sometimes additional enquiries between solicitors, discussions in moving dates between home owners and other circumstances beyond agents control.
I understand your frustration, when after achieving your asking price within a week of marketing that the transaction then seemed to drag but looking at your file I feel my colleagues were pro-active on your behalf, had regular contact with you and offered honest, professional advice. We have though, taken on board from your experience and comments that we need to to take into account that some clients and cases will require more attention than others and we need to consistently review situations as they arise and make our level of correspondence with our clients based on our findings. Our after sales department are consistently praised for assisting our clients through the sales process, going above and beyond what is expected of them so it was concerning to hear of your disappointment.
I once again apologise on my company's behalf for what appears to have been a stressful experience for you in moving but I hope now that you are now settled and happy in your new home.

"Town and Country provided an excellent service, in particular, Jen Jukes who dealt with all viewings professionally. In choosing Town and Country we were particularly keen on the fact that it would one person conducting all viewings and providing us with feedback.

The property had been on the market with another estate agent for a period of time before we instructed Town and Country, without the property being sold, but a sale was achieved relatively quickly once we changed agents.

We would not hesitate to use the agency again and/or recommend them to others."

3 bedroomed terraced cottage, located in Markyate, Herts.

"The sales staff in the Markyate branch can't be faulted. They are all really lovely to deal with and I never felt like I was a nuisance if I called them or went into the branch.

The after sales team at Caddington not so. They did nothing to progress anything after the sale was agreed. When I called them to check a detail with the buyer, they said it was my solicitors job to check and I had to insist that they call the buyer to confirm.

When I phoned to check that all was in order they said they would call me back but never did. I lost faith in them and dealt directly with my solicitor myself so I knew that the sale was agreed, that contracts were exchanged and that we had completed before they even called to tell me.

I would query what they actually do because even the confirmation letters they sent to me had the wrong name on and when I responded to advise I got an apology and they sent them again ... still with the wrong name on! I would say that the amount of work they did throughout the whole process couldn't have amounted to more than 30 minutes."

A 3 storey terraced town house in a village near A5

"Town and Country Estate Agents both in Markyate and their other office that dealt with after sale service were excellent.

Staff were friendly and very helpful in giving me information about properties on the market in the area.

When showing me round the property, the agent was prompt for the appointment and very helpful with questions concerning the property and the local area.

They were very efficient in acting as intermediaries in the purchase of my property.

Any queries that I had post-sale were dealt with promptly.

The few questions I have had since moving in to my new property were again answering quickly.

On picking up the keys I was given a complementary pack containing spare key ring, tape measure,chocolates and a bottle of wine. This was totally unexpected but very welcome. A lovely gesture."

"The sales team showed me 3 properties and I went back for a 2nd viewing to all 3. They had a good knowledge of each property and the area and he got back to me quickly with the questions that I did have through asking the vendors. They didn't bothet me with any needles correspondence at any point. They were also very professional through the offer process.

After sales were also very helpful and professional throughout the process and I always got the impression they knew exactly what stage we were at."

Three bedroom mid-terrace house with garage in a block at the rear of the property. Newly decorated and carpeted with modern bathroom and boiler installed within the last 18months Situated very close to local shops, Doctor''s surgery and chemist.

"From the start all the staff at Town and Country were extremely helpful, never minding how many times I popped into the Caddington office to ask questions or just seek reassurance (it being 45 years since my last move!).

Feedback from viewers was given verbally or by email, if I was unreachable by phone. The after sale service was also excellent with the team quickly sorting any concerns or questions I had about the property I was buying. The also 'chased' the estate agent of my seller's property when they were not providing appropriate information - not many agents are on the ball as Nikki.

3 bedroom semi-detached house in Hertfordshire village outside St Albans

"Overall I'd say they were very helpful. We arranged viewings for two properties with Ben, when we didn't like them he recommended we see another nearby property we hadn't noticed ourselves. He managed to arrange us having a look immediately on the spur of the moment, was very helpful, showed us round and gave us honest advice about what offer we could reasonably make. When our first offer was declined they seemed impartial when conducting negotiations and ultimately we had an offer accepted. When we were passed to the completion team they were friendly but perhaps a bit less helpful, we had to chase them a couple of times for information, and they didn't always consider the fact we were first time buyers and hence didn't really know how things worked, they could have explained some things a little bit better. But to be fair when we told them we didn't understand they did always make an effort to explain, it's more that they weren't as good as the sales team (who were very good) rather than they were bad. Completion was within 3 months and everything seemed to go pretty smoothly, we'd heard buying a house was really stressful but actually this wasn't that stressful at all, so we've no complaints and are very satisfied."

The after sales team are always very busy and deal with probably the most most stressful and frantic area of the house selling/buying process and sometimes we do forget that first time purchasers do need extra assistance in the complicated and daunting property market We are always trying to improve our service, so when we are able to hear about your personal experience of the transaction it does act as a gentle reminder to us all and for that we thank you.
