"Belgarum did an amazing job when selling our house. I really can't fault them. They really understand the local market and achieved a price which was significantly higher than a valuation from another local agent but was clearly realistic as we were under offer very quickly. Communication from all members of the team was excellent throughout. The fact that they have a dedicated sales progressor was a significant advantage in the transaction. To have someone who is focused on keeping the transaction moving and who can be contacted to deal with any hitches along the way is really helpful. I would (and already have!) recommended them to friends in Winchester thinking of putting their house on the market."

1950s detached house in fairly original condition. Winchester suburb

"We found the house on-line, contacted Belgarum by phone and were given one of the first available appointments a couple of days later. One of the agent's staff showed us around but gave us enough "space" to view at our own pace.

We knew that we liked the area, the size of the garden and the orientation of the plot. The issue was whether potential could be turned into practice. We spoke to the neighbours and they were very welcoming and understanding that the house needed complete updating.

The house was being sold for the first time in over sixty years and in our opinion needed significant remodeling as well as refurbishment. I worked up some plans over the next couple of days to show what the "new" house would be like. We met the MD of the estate agents in his office,
considered the suitability of our ideas and reviewed the local market in depth and at length. The result was a rough guide value for what our remodeled house would be worth - subject to the usual uncertainties of the market and the character/quality of our final offering.

Within a week of the first viewing, the vendors decided they wanted the sale wrapped up almost instantly and we were advised that verbal offers had to be received by the end of the day. We had an interesting afternoon putting figures together a little sooner than expected before we telephoned our offer to Paul Stephens. He called back about an hour later, after the end of normal office hours, to say that we had been successful.

The house was taken off the website as soon as we had provided our details. Harriet kept in touch to ensure that the sale kept moving along smoothly. We needed to make a couple of visits to the house to measure up and show our grown up daughters what we were doing. Belgarum had to accompany us as the house was empty but they happily worked around our diaries.

We completed in what seemed like record time and without a hitch.

Overall, Belgarum were great to deal with; friendly but professional. We got the feeling that they were in business for the long term and cared about their reputation and cared equally about their buyers and vendors.

We have now bought and sold through Belgarum. We will have a house to sell once the new one has been remodeled so expect to be talking to them again fairly soon. That should indicate our confidence in their abilities and character."

"Belgarum acted for us in the recent sale of our house. The whole process went very smoothly, from the offer being accepted through to completion.
Alex had an excellent knowledge of the Winchester market and property prices. This was soon evident when we received an offer for the full asking price before the property was even advertised on the open market.
Seanne and Harriet were always very helpful and responsive to any emails or queries throughout the process.

"This was a very pleasant experience. All the staff I was in contact with were friendly and helpful at all times, and showed sensitivity to the fact that it was the flat of a late parent who was alive when I first contacted Belgarum to have the flat valued but who then died a few months later. "We sold our home through Belgarum and had hoped to buy through them too but found a house through another Agent. They were professional yet personable from the start. They were honest about our house and priced it fairly. It was not an easy sale due to problems with the buyers and Belgarum worked hard to deal with the difficulties, keep us abreast of the situation and get the sale back on track. We liked that although you have a dedicated sales agent and then once the sale is agreed a sales negotiator, the team know everything so if someone is away, someone else can help. They work very closely together, know exactly who you are when you call and seemed genuinely happy for us when the sale went through. Although we were not able to buy through Belgarum, we were given excellent advice about the size and type of house we needed which led UA to change our search criteria and get the right home for us. They also suggested a mortgage broker who got us a great deal. We were impressed with how hard they worked and really felt they did what our solicitor should have been doing. We cannot praise them enough or thank them for what they did."

"In my opinion the process of buying and selling would be greatly enhanced if the market price that estate agents discuss with their clients was more realistic.

I would have welcomed a much more personal approach and help after we purchased the property based on our particular issues relating to the property we are renting.

Belgarum should have been more reasonable with the fees with were quoted based on our past business relationship.

The Rental division took a very short sighted view which was clearly based on fees."
