Long distance move from Gloucester to Scarborough. Moving contents of 3 bedroom house plus contents of garage and some garden items.

"It was a great experience. House visit and initial quote based on the visit was quick and explained what was included and timescales in detail. Prepacking was done quickly for us with professionalism and wit which helped the process no end. Likewise the day of the move went smoothly. The guys knew what they were doing and showed their experience and knowledge and had the van packed within 3 hours for a next day delivery. The day of delivery the guys turned up on time, we had a laugh about the hotel they stayed in for the night, and then they unloaded. We were told to direct them and ‘boss’ them on where furniture and boxes where to go. Again all done within 3 hours. As we said, a great experience for something that could have been a real chore!"

"Our move was excellent. Two long days but they all worked extremely hard and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again. The only thing I would change would be to request picture boxes. I hadn’t realized that our pictures wouldn’t be packaged up and that would have been really useful."

The Herbert David team moved us from our house in Newent Gloucestershire to our new home in North Northamptonshire in June of this year. Not only were we dealing with a long distance move which had to be done over 2days but our new property has some very very tricky access issues!

"The team handled all of these challenges with ease and professionalism (as well as humour). We couldn’t have asked for a more seamless move from our old house to our current home and can’t thank the team enough for all the work (and it was very hard work!) they put in.
This is the 3rd time we have used Herbert Davis and we would not hesitate to either use them again or recommend them to other house movers.

3 day move from one part of Gloucestershire to another, involving a cluttered, four bedroomed house, and even more cluttered, garage and garden !

"Herbert Davis were absolutely fantastic. Our completion and exchange dates kept being changed because of complications with a long chain. Maxine was incredibly patient and reassuring and accommodating. In the end at relatively short notice they were able to arrange a complicated three day removal. The whole team were friendly, clearly very experienced and professional. The banter and kindness on the moving days turned what could have been a horribly stressful experience into a far more manageable, and even quite enjoyable one. amongst our belongings were some treasured heirlooms, which they took great care in moving.

After the move, they were very accommodating in collecting all the boxes and moved a very heavy item of garden furniture into place. We would highly recommend this company and good family run business with great credentials and a brilliant team."

I moved from privately owned property to a rented one only a short distance apart in the same town. The buyer of my property coincidentally booked the same removal company as me so as soon as I was out of my old house and in the new one, the removal people (Shayne and Simon-I think, apologies if I got his name wrong) for my buyer came to help me and my removal people (John and Steve) whilst the buyer was waiting for the keys to my old house. When they finished unpacking my stuff all 4 of them went to my old house to unpack my buyer. It was great to see how they helped each other and didn''t waste any time. It was all very efficient. I was very impressed.

"The experience was beyond my expectations. From my first call to Maxine and Andy including a few consequent follow ups due to change in completion date. They were very polite, accommodating, understanding, extremely helpful.
The day before the move, John came to pack my belongings. A very nice gentleman, polite, punctual, efficient. His packing skills are exceptional.
On the day of moving (next day) he came with Steve who was equally nice, polite, efficient. They worked well together and laughed a lot even when moving heavy furniture. It was amazing to see.
They provided lots of good tips and advice for example where to place furniture in the new house so that it works etc.
And when the other guys came to help it was like a conveyor belt. Fast and furious :-) Incredible work. I couldn't have done it without them. I would recommend them 100%. Thank you."

Herbert Davis moved me from Cheltenham to Exeter in April 2024.

"The crew were brilliant, they courteous, friendly, helpful and really patient when the buyer turned up and made logistics tricky.

I'd highly recommend Maxine too, who made the process of booking times and delivery really easy.

It was a next day delivery, and the crew turned up at 9.30 and thoughtfully covered everything from the shed to protect it, until I could order another one.

Rescued us at very short notice after we were given less than a week’s notice of exchange and completion (happening on the same day). Really helpful in terms of knowledge and spotting potential problems, advising us of the process etc. Moving from a 3 bed terraced with lots of plants in pots in the garden that had to be carried through the house as no alternative access, to a detached house on a shared private drive.

"The guys treated all our possessions carefully, put them all in the rooms of choice and were lovely and helpful.

The guys were punctual and polite. Conscious of other traffic so moving the trucks as necessary to accommodate them. They treated all our possessions carefully, helping to remove a couple of screws from last minute items after we packed the screwdriver! I was worried about the plants because of their height and weight but they managed to move them. Held the dog when we were having to deal with the estate agent and the dog was freaking over the shiny floor. Put all the items in the rooms of choice and were lovely and helpful. Had been quoted by two other companies, both cheaper, but the knowledge and reassurance Andy Ford gave us meant we chose Herbert Davis. There was no messing about, Andy could tell I was already very stressed so I was very grateful he secured the booking quickly. All the guys on the day were absolutely fab too. Massive thanks to them all, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the firm to anyone."

Move from small semi-detached to a park home, including a collection from a storage unit.

"When dealing with the office they were polite and helpful. We requested a quote which arrived swiftly. Nearer the move we had to change the location of the second collection, which was agreed.
On moving day the van arrived promptly and the two removal men introduced themselves and asked to be shown around the property to review what needed to be taken. Then they put down their own rugs.
They got on with the move, going from room to room, and provided wardrobe boxes (which were pre-agreed), to avoid us having to put all clothes in boxes.
They had 1 break during which when they swept out the van.
2 hours later they had packed the van and drove to the second location.
Then they drove near to the destination address and waiting for 'the call'.
When we called them to say we were on the way with the keys, they got ready and when we arrived they had dropped the tail-lift and created an aluminium bridge to the steps of the address, to avoid the steps.
There was an issue getting in, but they were helpful and patient - we were extremely stressed at this point!
Again they asked where everything was to go, put down their rugs and got on with the job. 2 hours later they were leaving.
We cannot rate their work highly enough."
