British Association of Removers

The British Association of Removers operates an approved code under the Approved Code Scheme operated by the Trading Standards Institute. While the Approved Code Scheme was originally launched by the OFT, management was transferred to the Consumer Code Approval Board (CCAB) in 2013. As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), the CCAB was set-up to independently oversee the direction of the Scheme (with advice and scrutiny from the Code Sponsor Panel). However, the day-to-day running of the Scheme is handled entirely by the staff of the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI).

Quality Service Standard BS EN 12522

BS EN 12522 relates only to domestic removals of personal possessions (as opposed to commercial moves) covering quality measures across all aspects of the service provided.

Quality Service Standard BS EN 14873

BS EN 14873 is the first and only recognised quality standard specifically aimed at the storage of furniture and personal effects for private individuals.

Quality Service Standard BS EN 8522

BS 8522 is intended to establish a minimum level of service and performance in organisations dealing with the moving of office or business equipment, furniture and goods as a service to commercial entities.

Trusted Trader is an independent scheme run by Fife Council Trading Standards. Businesses signing up to the scheme must abide by certain terms and conditions which reflect their responsible and sensible approach to the way they trade and conduct their business.
